Driving Growth Through Innovation and Circularity

In presenting the award, District 1 Adams County Supervisor Wes Middleton praised Phibro rCB’s transformation of the former Delta Energy site into a hub of circular economy innovation. The facility repurposes up to 3.5 million end-of-life tires annually, converting them into sustainable outputs including recovered carbon black, tire pyrolysis oil, and other renewable raw materials.

"Phibro is leading the charge in building a truly circular economy," Middleton said during the ceremony. "The tires are recycled and sold back to companies to produce new tires from the compounds." These sustainable outputs are used by Phibro’s largest partner and are opening doors for new partnerships across multiple industries.

Fully Operational and Growing

Phibro rCB’s Natchez plant features four reactor lines and two finishing lines, processing over 20 short tons of tire chips daily. The operation produces approximately:

  • 35% recovered carbon black

  • 53% tire pyrolysis oil

  • 5% recovered hydrocarbon gas

  • 7%–10% other materials

With ISO 9001 certification and ISCC PLUS sustainability credentials, the facility is positioned as a model for circular manufacturing and green innovation in Mississippi.

A Celebration of Local Leadership

The Chamber’s annual event, which carried a fun ‘80s theme this year, brought together business leaders, elected officials, and community members to recognize standout contributors to regional growth. While the night featured light-hearted competition—like the best ‘80s costume—it also honored the serious achievements of businesses helping shape the region’s future. Phibro rCB’s recognition underscores the company’s commitment not only to environmental sustainability, but also to local investment and job creation, with over 50 employees currently supporting operations in Natchez.
